Cats

by Dennis Janke

catCat eyes
looking out at the world
ready to pounce
galvanize into action
by a single motion
until they balance
thought into perfect contentment
and close in on a dreamless sleep

Cat calls

to stalk the night
a selfish lover
this tender beast
so easily turned away
stays hidden from your sight

all grown up and still
twirling for him, as if some coyness
could suffice the long road … Read more
