Inspiration for the Spirit

A lovely place to wander for poetry and inspiration to soothe the soul

lettersOne of the first things you discover when you put an inspirational website online, is that a lot of people will write to you. Many of the letters I receive are complimentary, praising the website and its content. Some are more specific, mentioning a section of the site or a poem the writer especially likes. Still others are intensely raw and personal from people who feel comfortable enough to confide and share their private thoughts and feelings. Mail is always welcome. I feel fortunate that there are so many interesting individuals who not only visit Inspiration for the Spirit, but also take the time to write.

Peace and Love always,
Patricia

    Hi Dennis,

Look at this…two old friends finding each other years later on the internet. Good to see you again.

Thank you for a most inspiring website. I accidentally came across it tonight whilst browsing the web. It is a virtual treasure trove of delight – some of the prose made me sad and some made me think more deeply about life and love. You obviously are a very gifted person, and I shall be back on this site more often. Kind regards, Walter Crawford

I thoroughly enjoyed a presentation of the poem, The Invitation, with music and pictures on YouTube. It began with the vastness of the universe and moved to earth eventually focusing upon an infant who looked like he may have washed up on the shore. The love the poem talks about is a perfect love that we may aspire to, demand for ourselves, but never realize in its fullness. I believe I aspire to be like Rumi ‘I love no one but God alone.’ In our particularity we are all pale imitators of the wonder and joy and love that surrounds us. Living up to that calling is a struggle.

Hi Patricia, Love your site. I wanted to drop you a note and tell you that I fell in love with your blog. I bought the innov8tive theme today and found your blog from their site. Since then I have been reading your articles, poems and stories. Your family is so lucky to have you. Also your site is beautiful. I love the way you organized it. Beautiful! I am a beginner. After I lost my mother last year my life has changed. For some reason, I realized that I need to get out of my comfort zone. “Starting a blog” is my way of getting out of my comfort zone. I hope I can succeed. 🙂 Hope you are having a good day. Best, Ice

      Hi James,

The handwritten copy of the short poem Christina Rossetti gave to her mother on Valentine’s Day 1884 is from “Eleven Valentines of Christina Rossetti,” originally published/produced in England [London], 1884. Source: Mercer University.

      Hope this helps.

Just thought I’d comment on your post – as I thought you might be interested that I’ve released an album called “Widening Circles.” I have become totally smitten by Rilke and so the album features the English translation of a handful of the poems from the Book of Hours set to my compositions.

You can watch a short film of the recording process here:

    thanks
