Drowned in a Raindrop

by David J. Humphreys

Liquid, alive, and agleam
You gently soaked through my skin
As the drops turned into a stream
My heart was yours to win

Sometimes your ripples are calm
And sometimes you flow like a storm
I don’t mind the change in your mood
Because always your waters are warm

Your comforting rhythms engulf
I’m lost in your currents I know
Your tide rose up over my head
And drowned me a long time ago
