Seasons of the Soul

Holidays, seasons, and reasons to celebrate . . . and moments to pause and pray

The New Year

Celebrating the New YearOut with the old . . . in with the new!

Around the world, people gather together to ring in the New Year. There are fireworks displays, parties, toasting, and resolutions. It is a joyous celebration.

The New Year offers a new beginning and a perfect opportunity to release the past and make a fresh start.

Forget about trying to create a new you. Instead, resolve to accept who you are and be yourself . . . only better. Take time to re-evaluate where you want to be at the end of the year with regards to health, physical appearance, relationships, and a sense of well-being.

If you focus on personal growth and those areas where you can bring balance and harmony into your life, everything else will fall into place.

January 1
Poem for the New Year
To leave the old with a burst of song;
To recall the right and forgive the wrong;
To forget the things that bind you fast
To vain regrets from the year that’s past;
To have the strength to let go your hold
Of things not worthwhile, of days grown old;
To dare go forth with a purpose true
To the unknown task of a year that’s new;
To help your brother along the road,
To do his work and lift his load;
To add your gift to the world’s good cheer
Is to have and to give a happy New Year.
