Misty green tree

Returning
by Terry Stephen Driscoll

Think not of simple seasons
As friends depart your side
The sight of brown and amber leaves
Means not a tree has died

It’s roots still burrow deep and sure
As branches sprout anew
It’s trunk can boast foundation
just like friendships often do

For as the simple seasons change
A friend not lately seen
Returns with purpose to remind
That love is evergreen.
